Instruction

FCS provides a progressive, research-supported education that reflects a biblical worldview. Guided Language Acquisition Design (GLAD), a research-based model, supports instruction across content areas that is rich in high-level vocabulary, promotes metacognition, encourages gradual release of responsibility, and embodies 21st-century learning. The GLAD model emphasizes solving one’s problems, respecting others, and making good choices. Metacognitive learners are able to think about their own learning:  Does this make sense? How am I doing? What am I doing well? What can I do better?

咨询

FCS provides a support system for students to build relationships with each other and staff; together, we establish a community of compassion. Comprised of single-gender, mixed-grade levels, advisory groups range from 8-10 students in size and meet twice a week. 咨询 focuses on relationship building, academic support, and creating an even richer learning environment.

MAP Assessments

The Measure of 学术 Progress (MAP) is a computer adaptive assessment administered three times a year. MAP measures what students know and what they are ready to learn. FCS students at each grade level scored above the Norm Grade Level Mean RIT score in each subject. The Norm Grade Level Mean RIT is the average score for students in the same grade as that student, across the country, who took the MAP assessment for that content area.

January Term

FCS offers a specialized two-week January Term (j项), a session between the first and second semesters that allows students to explore new classes beyond the typical college-prep curriculum. Potential J-Term opportunities may include psychology, programming, archaeology, script writing, photography, culinary arts, native planting, and/or internships. The term concludes with an all-high school retreat in the Santa Cruz Mountains.

Athletics

FCS competes in the Bay County’s League (BCL) in the Bay Area Conference (BAC) in the North Coast Section (NCS) of the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF). Our FCS Warriors and Lady Warriors hold 73 league championships and eight section championships. More About High School Athletics
